Description Job Role

HMP Berwyn offers exceptional learning & skill provision, with a focus on rehabilitation, to the men it houses. The curriculum offer supports this process and we are seeking exceptional staff to help us deliver this agenda across a wide range of areas.

Under the direction of the Hub Manager, you will * Ensure that prospective and existing learners receive relevant and appropriate information regarding learning and skills provision and continuing support mechanisms. * Enable learners to produce an informed action plan, which will maximise the impact of learning and skills upon the learner whilst in custody. * Contribute to a multidisciplinary approach that seeks to facilitate effective resettlement of the learner into the community.

  • Key Accountabilities

    • Deliver comprehensive, confidential and impartial information sessions regarding educational and training opportunities within the establishment
    • Develop appropriate, bilingual information materials
    • Support learners through initial assessments using a range of activities, including computer based testing where appropriate
    • Support learners to produce an effective Individual Learning and Work Plan which meets their needs whilst in custody
    • Contribute to the effective allocation of learners to Learning and Skills provision
    • Support learners to review their action plan as significant points in their sentence
    • Provide action plans to other establishments, in line with relevant processes and procedures, to allow continuity of learning through their journey in custody
    • Ensure the safeguarding of learners
    • Ensure that learner records are accurate and maintained in line with data protection and agreed policies
    • Comply with Health & Safety legislation and prison security requirements
    • Support learners engagement with Education
    • Meet KPI and MI deadlines
    • Communicate effectively with Novus Cambria colleagues, learners, stakeholders and other departments across the establishment
    • Maintain a multidisciplinary approach to support positive outcomes for HMP Berwyn residents

  • Qualifications

    • Hold a minimum L3 qualification in Advice and Guidance, or equivalent Desirable
    • Hold a minimum L2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy Essential
    • Ability to speak fluent Welsh Desirable
    • Subject to enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check Essential
  • Experience

    • Experience in the relevant area Essential
    • Have a recent track record of effective delivery in an IAG role Essential
    • Experience of working within a prison, further education or training setting Desirable
    • Experience of efficient administration within a busy office environment Essential
